About “Life with Mike”

In 2003, not long after Mike and I moved to Gainesville, I began writing a little column for a weekly newspaper called The Journal of North Texas. It was a small paper, mailed out to most addresses in Cooke County. I wrote about Mike, his handiwork and his health, and some of the people and situations we encountered along the way. “Life with Mike” ran from 2003 until early 2005, when the Journal of North Texas folded. I went on to work for other newspapers in Cooke and Denton counties until we returned home to Wichita Falls in 2011. After all the stories of people and news that I covered from 2005 til mid-2011, “Life with Mike” is still what people remember most. I’ll be posting some of those pieces to this site, categorized as “Life with Mike.”
